Dan and I were in two plays together, one in high school and the second at the University of Toledo. A wonderfull raconteur, Dan always had a wild tale to tell. Whether his stories were true or not hardly seemed to matter - they were endlessly entertaining. He had a great, booming, golden voice, a voice made for radio. Years after we graduated, I was walking up Sixth Avenue in New York City and heard: "Dee!! Dee Grzybowski!!" Nobody in New York called me "Dee" - and I knew it had to be someone from Toledo. I stopped in my tracks and turned all around - and there was Dan, driving a taxi, grinning and waving his arms. I ran across the street and we spent the next 30 minutes catching up. He had so many talents, and a few demons. I hope he found peace.
