Michael Wysocki VIEW PROFILE

Michael Stephen (“Kono”) Wysocki, 64, eldest child of Barbara (Sinnig) and Gerald Wysocki; joined his mother in Heaven on December 1, 2016. Mike passed away in his sleep at his home in Maumee, Ohio after battling pancreatic cancer for several months.
Mike leaves behind his wife Faith, his step son Scott, grandchildren Darren and Ximon, his loving father Jerry, loving brothers Jeff (Maureen), Terry (Renee), Rick (Sandy) and loving sisters Lorri (Bob) Stark, Kris (Jim) Thielman, 11 nieces, 10 nephews, and many, many friends.
Born June 28, 1952 in Leesville Louisiana, Mike grew up in Toledo Ohio and attended St. Catherine’s grade school and Roy C. Start High School. Following his graduation in 1970, Mike began working at C&O / CSX Railroad as a clerk, eventually working his way to YardMaster. The following year, Mike proudly joined the Army National Guard and continued with the Guard for six years. In 1980, after helping a friend move to Phoenix AZ, Mike fell in love with the growing area, the stunning scenery, and the beautiful weather. He set his sights on the Valley of the Sun and accomplished his goal of moving to Phoenix in 1982.
Mike began working for the US Post Office in Phoenix AZ at the Northwest Station, where he met and fell in love with his future bride, Faith DiNardo. Mike and Faith married in January of 1986. Mike was an avid outdoorsman and NRA member who enjoyed fishing, golf, target practice and biking. Golf was a such a favorite, he would deliver mail for 8 hours in 110⁰ sun, then stop off to play a quick round of golf. Mike found tee-times plentiful; as who (in their right mind) plays golf in the mid-day Phoenix sun?
Mike bought his first motorcycle when he was 17 and simply loved the thrill of the open road. He continued riding throughout most of his life and loved the roar of his Harley’s. Mike had always been an avid bicyclist as well, and in the ‘90s took up Mountain Biking and Racing. Friends made up a huge part of Mike’s life and could often be found with his buddy’s mountain biking in the hills and deserts of the west.
Mike and Faith both loved the outdoors and demonstrated this by traveling and camping throughout the western US every summer. They started in tents and graduated to pop-up tent campers, and finally to RV’s and 5th wheels. All of their trips were punctuated with Fun, Love and Laughter and they never tired of each other’s company. One of their favorite places on this earth was Yellowstone National Park where they visited often and admired the scenery and wildlife. Mike and Faith made their home in a picturesque A-frame house nestled on Black Mountain in Cave Creek AZ. The outdoors was their home with days off spent on jet-ski’s at the lake and weekends at Harold’s.
Mike was an avid fan of the Arizona baseball and football teams. This made for spirited rivalry across the miles with favored teams of family and friends. Mike was grateful to witness both of the professional teams play for the championships.
After retiring from the Post Office in 2007, Mike & Faith were able to devote even more to their travels. They volunteered their time and efforts during their retirement to work as Campground Hosts at numerous campgrounds throughout Oregon and Utah, building many beautiful memories together.
Through the years, Mike (known to many as “Kono”) remained close friends with many grade-school and high school buddies. A core group of friends were referred to as “the Pack” and could regularly be found enjoying life in each other’s company. Ohhh, the stories that could be told…
In 2012, Mike and Faith returned to the Toledo area and settled in Maumee Ohio to be closer to family and friends. After an especially cold Ohio winter, Mike & Faith decided to become “Snowbirds” and bought a winter place in Sun City AZ. We will all remember Mike for the wonderful, fun loving, selfless person he was.
